Regenerative braking captures energy as you slow down. The engine also helps charge the battery, so the hybrid system takes care of itself.
Enjoy familiar gas-station refuelling and electric assistance in everyday driving. Weekday traffic or a weekend away—you don’t need to plan around chargers.
A conventional hybrid uses gasoline and electric assistance. It does not offer the extended electric-only driving range of a plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle.

No. This is a conventional hybrid (HEV), not a plug-in hybrid. Its battery is charged by the engine and regenerative braking. Just fill up with gas and go; there is no charging cable or home charger to install.
Jeep announced an estimated combined consumption of 6.4 L/100 km, with more than 800 km of range on a tank. These are manufacturer estimates. Actual fuel consumption and range depend on weather, driving habits, traffic, load and other conditions.
A plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that you can charge externally for longer electric-only trips. The Cherokee's smaller battery recharges as you drive and helps reduce fuel use without needing charging access. It is not designed for long electric-only commutes.
Yes. The 2026 Cherokee pairs a 210-hp 1.6L turbo hybrid powertrain with standard Jeep Active Drive I 4x4. When properly equipped, maximum towing is 3,500 lb (1,588 kg). Always follow the owner's manual and confirm equipment with the dealer.
It can be a practical fit for renters, condo residents and drivers who don't have reliable charging at home. Regenerative braking recovers energy in stop-and-go traffic, while gas refuelling keeps longer drives familiar. Cold temperatures and mountain driving can still affect efficiency.
